[2016/06] Prof. Yu visited the Ansys Apache Inc. at San Jose, CA, USA, and gave a talk on the Floating Random Walk Algorithms for Capacitance Extraction Problems in IC and FPD Design.

[2016/05] Mr. Zhezhao Xu attended the 26th Great Lake Symposium of VLSI (GLSVLSI'2016) held in Boston, USA, and presented his paper with title "A parallel random walk solver for the capacitance calculation problem in touchscreen design". GLSVLSI is a premium international conference on VLSI and hardware design, with only 24% acceptance rate for oral paper. Prof. Yu also attended the GLSVLSI. After that he visited National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) at Gaithersburg, MA, and give an invited talk in the ACMD seminar series. The talk information and slides are here.

[2016/03] Dr. Nicolay Simonov from the Siberian branch of Russia Academy of Science visited our group, and gave a talk with title "Monte Carlo methods for elliptic equations with flux boundary conditions".
 
[2016/03] Prof. Hao Yu from Nanyang Technological University visited our group, and gave a talk with title "Energy-efficient Data Analytics: Thousand-core Accelerators in Memory".
 
[2016/03] Our paper "Utilizing Macromodels in Floating Random Walk Based Capacitance Extraction" co-authored by Wenjian Yu, Bolong Zhang, Chao Zhang, Haiquan Wang, and Luca Daniel won the Best Paper Award in the DATE'2016 conference. Congratulations to the authors!   photo1 photo2
 
[2016/01] Prof. Yu is invited to serve as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems.
 
[2015/12] Prof. Michael Mascagni from Florida State Univ. and NIST visited our group. Prof. Mascagni is an internationally recognized expert on Monte Carlo simulation and random number generator.
 
[2015/11] Prof. Qixin Wang from the Hong Kong Polytechnic Univ. visited our group, and gave a talk with title "The Integration Challenge of Cyber-Physical Systems".
 
[2015/09] The oversea-scholar short course "Introduction to simulation and modeling of complex dynamical systems" is successfully completed. This course is taught by Prof. Luca Daniel of MIT, and organized by Prof. Yu at Tsinghua Univ. About 20 students from 9 departments enrolled in this course. After the lectures, students worked on course projects and finally handed in good-quality reports. (A photo taken at the end of the course)
 
[2015/08] Prof. Yu attended the international congress on inductrial and applied mathematics (ICIAM'2015) held in Beijing. He gave a 30-minutes invited talk in the minisymposia titled "Monte Carlo Methods for Solving Partial Differential Equations".
 
[2015/07] Mr. Chao Zhang received the Outstanding M.S. Graduate of Tsinghua Univ. Award, the Beijing Outstanding M.S. Graduate Award, and the Excellent Master Thesis Award of Tsinghua Univ. Congratulations to Chao!
 
[2015/04] Recently, Mr. Bolong Zhang received several offers from Florida State Univ., Florida Internation Univ., and Lancaster Univ. (UK), etc. He will go to Florida State Univ. and pursue the Ph.D degree in Computer Science there since this fall. Congratulations to Bolong!
 
[2014/11] Prof. Yu attended ICSICT'2014 and gave an invitied talk. Then, he attended ICCAD'2014 at San Jose, USA and presented his work on capacitance extraction for cylindrical ITVs in 3D IC. During this stay in San Jose, Prof. Yu and Chao Zhang visited Cadence Inc.
 
[2014/10] Prof. Dan Jiao from Purdue University visited our group, and gave a talk entitled "Direct Electromagnetic Solvers of Linear Complexity for Large-Scale Integrated Circuit Design";
Prof. Zhuo Feng from Michigan Technological University visted our group, and gave a talk: "Graph Sparsification Approaches to Scalable Integrated Circuit Modeling and Simulations".

 
[2014/08] Prof. Yu received the Excellent Young Scholar Award from NSFC. This is a 3-year research grant issued to 400 young scholars (with age ≤ 38) each year.
 
[2014/07] Prof. Luca Daniel from MIT visited our group, and gave a talk entitled "Accelerating Optimization, Inverse Problems & Uncertainty Quantification on Complex Systems using Parameterized Model Order Reduction".
 
[2014/06] A paper titled "Random Walk Based Capacitance Extraction for 3D ICs with Cylindrical Inter-Tier-Vias" has been accepted by ICCAD'2014. ICCAD is a premier conference devoted to technical innovations in EDA.
 
[2014/06] Prof. Yu visited Prof. Luca Daniel's group in MIT, Boston, MA, USA, and gave a talk on the latest work on capacitance extraction. Prof. Yu visited Prof. C.-K. Cheng's group in UCSD, La Jolla, CA, USA, and gave a talk on the random walk methods. Prof. Yu attended DAC'2014 at San Francisco, CA, USA and present a WIP paper.
 
[2014/05] Prof. Yu published a new book with Springer: Advanced Field-Solver Techniques for RC Extraction of Integrated Circuits. This book is coauthored by Dr. Xiren Wang, a former member of Prof. Yu's group, and includes a Forward by Prof. Chung-Kuan Cheng at UCSD. It is the first book on the technical details of various 3-D field solvers for RC extraction, and reflects some of authors' research achievements in last 10 years.
 
[2014/04] The new website for RWCap is launched! It includes program updates and tutorial of RWCap.
 
[2014/03] Prof. Yu attended CSTIC'2014 as a committee member, and gave an invited talk on advanced technique for capacitance extraction. CSTIC is the largest, and the most comprehensive annual semiconductor technology conference in China. CSTIC'2014 was held on March 16-17, 2014, in Shanghai, China, in conjunction with SEMICON China 2014.
 
[2014/01] Chao Zhang and Yuan Liang attended ASP-DAC'2014 conference held in Singapore, together with Prof. Yu. Chao and Yuan presented their papers respectively, while Prof. Yu chaired a technical session on ASP-DAC.
 
[2013/12] The Project "High-performance numerical and stochastic algorithms and their applications" led by Prof. Yu (members are Siyu Yang and Yuan Liang) is selected as The 1st-Class Excellent Student Research Training (SRT) Project of Tsinghua University. Prof. Yu received the 1st-Class Excellent Advisor Award of SRT Project.
 
[2013/12] Ph.D student Hao Zhuang from UCSD visited our group and gave a talk: "Power Grid Simulation using Matrix Exponential Method with Rational Krylov Subspaces". Hao had been with our group before he went aboard to pursue the Ph.D degree in 2013.
 
[2013/10] Prof. Yu organized a special session "Advances in Parasitic Extraction and Circuit Simulation" on the 10th ASICON conference, and gave an invited talk. In this special session, the researchers from Hong Kong, USA and China presented their recent research progress.
 
[2013/09] Two papers from our group was accepted by ASP-DAC 2014. The first authors of the two papers are Chao Zhang and Yuan Liang, respectively. Note that Yuan is currently an undergraduate student with the Computer Science Department of Tsinghua University. Congratulations to the authors!
 
[2013/08] Two papers from our group was recently accepted by IEEE Trans. Computer-Aided Design. This is the top journal on the area of computer-aided design of integraed circuit and system. Congratulations to the authors!
 
[2013/07] Mr. Kuangya Zhai received the Outstanding M.S. Graduate Award from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University. Congratulation to Kuangya!
 
[2013/06] Prof. Yu visited Cadence Inc. at Austin, US, and gave a talk on the fast floating random walk algorithms for capacitance extration.
 
[2013/05] Mr. Siyu Yang accepted the offer from Georgia Institute of Technology, US. Mr. Yang is an undergraduate who joined our group in last July. He will begin his journey in US to pursue the Ph.D degree since this fall. Congratulations to Siyu!
 
[2013/04] Prof. Wenjian Yu gave a seminar on the floating random walk for capacitance extration in ICMSEC, CAS.
 
[2013/04] We released the 2nd version of RWCap-solver. The main contributor is Chao Zhang. Thanks for Chao's hard work!
 
[2013/04] Prof. M. Mascagni from Department of Computer Science, Florida State Univesity, visited Prof. Yu's group. He gave a talk with title of "Novel Stochastic Methods in Biochemical Electrostatics: (Stochastic Methods for PDEs Can Beat Deterministic Methods)". Prof. Mascagni is an ACM distinguished Scientist (2011), and is a famous expert on parallel random number generator, and Monte Carlo method. Prof. Mascagni had a lunch with Prof. Yu and students in the group.
 
[2013/04] Mr. Kuangya Zhai accepted the offer from Columbia University after rejecting several offers from other top US insititues (e.g. Minnesota, Purdue, UCLA, PSU, UCSD). He will begin his journey there to pursue the Ph.D degree since this fall. Congratulations to Kuangya!
 
[2013/03] Mr. Kuangya Zhai attended the Design Automation & Test in Europe Conference (DATE) held in France. He presented his paper "GPU-Friendly floating random walk algorithm for capacitance extraction of VLSI interconnects", and communicated with the experts in this area. DATE is the top conference in the design automation area.
 
[2013/01] Prof. Wenjian Yu received a new research grant from the Beijing Natural Science Foundation.
 
[2012/11] The paper "RWCap: A floating random walk solver for 3-D capacitance extraction of VLSI interconnects", authored by Prof. Yu, Hao Zhuang, Chao Zhang, Gang Hu and Zhi Liu, is accepted by IEEE Trans. Computer-Aided Design, after two-round review. This is the top journal on the area of computer-aided design of integraed circuit and system. Congratulations to the authors!
 
[2012/10] Mr. Kuangya Zhai and Mr. Tao Zhang completed their internship in Synopsys Inc., Shanghai.
 
[2012/06] Mr. Kang Cheng, Mr. Qiming Tang, and Mr. Qingqing Zhang completed their thesis work and got the M.S. degree. Congratulations to them!
 
[2012/05] Prof. Wenjian Yu visited IBM Watson Research Center. He gave a talk with the title of "Fast Floating Random Walk Solver for Interconnect Capacitance Extraction".
 
[2012/05] Prof. Wenjian Yu visited the EE department of UC Riverside. He gave a talk at Prof. Sheldon Tan's lab.
 
[2012/04] Mr. Hao Zhuang accepted the offer from UCSD after rejecting several offers from other top US insititues (e.g. UT Austin). He is also the recipient of the Powell Fellowship from the Jacobs School of Engineering, UCSD, and will begin his journey there to pursue the Ph.D degree since this fall. Congratulations to Hao!
 
[2012/02] Prof. Wenjian Yu received a new research grant from the TNList. It is about the theoretic research on the random walk method, with th collabration with Prof. Junqing Chen at the Math Department.
 
[2011/11] Mr. Qingqing Zhang got the job offer from Synopsys Inc., Shanghai. Synopsys Inc. is the biggest EDA software company around the world. Congratulations to Qingqing!

[2011/09] Prof. Hao Yu from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, visited Prof. Yu's group, and gave a talk with title: When “More-Moore” Meets “More-than-Moore”.
 
[2011/09] Prof. Wenjian Yu and his collaborators from UCSD published a paper on the IEEE Transations on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology.
 
[2011/01] Prof. Wenjian Yu was awarded the Award for Popularizing and Application of Research Achievement ("科研成果推广应用效益奖") from Tsinghua University.
 
[2010/09] Prof. Wenjian Yu was elevated to IEEE Senior Member.
 
[2010/09] Prof. Wenjian Yu received a new research grant from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The 3-year project is "Research of Interconnect Parasitic Extraction and Thermal Analysis for 3D Chip". (Grant No. 61076034).
 
[2010/07] Chao Hu won the Best Paper Award of the 16th China CAD/CG Conference (CAD/CG'2010), with the paper entitled "面向统计互连电容提取的随机变动几何建模" (The geometric modeling of random variations for statistical interconnect capacitance extraction). Only 4 papers were selected among more than 200 papers.
 
[2010/04] Prof. Wenjian Yu was appointed to be the Member of editorial board of Journal of Computer Aided Design and Computer Graphics, which is a top Chinese journal on CAD research.
